In one of our Plano roof rack storage boxes, we keep most of our tools, plus some hiking and camping equipment that we don’t need to access constantly. Below are the things we always keep in our overland tool box.

• Tent – Big Agnes Lynx Pass 3 (as a backup, in case we can’t or don’t want to sleep in the car)
• 2 double hammocks – Fox Outfitters Neolite Double and ENO Double Deluxe (I like the extra fabric of a double hammock even by myself, unless I’m backpacking or something)
• 2 sets of hiking poles
• Multi-tool shovel – shovel, axe, knife, saw, firestarter, hoe, ruler, screwdrivers
• Automotive tool set, drill bits, screwdriver set
• A set of Torx sockets
• Cen-tech 4-in-1 Powerpack/Air compressor – works as battery jump-starter, air compressor for car and bike tires, LED work light, 20 hours of 12V power via USB and cigarette lighter ports
• Duct tape – self-explanatory
• Extra tie-down straps
• Extra zip-ties – if you’ve read my other posts, you know these are critical
